I've always believed that searching for literatures should feel exciting. But the reality? It felt tiring.

Every time I worked with students, colleagues, or researchers trying to find a single thesis, a basic study, or even a simple reference, I’d hear the same frustrations:

"Saan ko ba hahanapin? Sa library? Sa website ng school?"
"Andami pong forms… andaming tanong… ang hirap hanapin."

And, it hit me: Search wasn’t the problem. The experience was!

I started thinking, what if search wasn’t about typing keywords into a blank box and hoping for the best? What if it felt like chatting with someone who understood you? Someone who didn’t need you to know fancy search commands, or which site to visit. Just someone who listened to your question … and found the answer.

Well, this was the time when generative chatbots started gaining popularity, but it didn't stop me from acting on my thoughts.

So, there it was, the Ambin Chat began. The purpose? Let people search the way they naturally think, by talking lazy 😂.

We’ve seen chatbots before, and we know how bad they were (those made before 2021 🤣). We’ve seen AI now (a lot, confusing us which works best for our ADHD goals). Hold on, very few of them are built for researchers and literature discovery, in fact, most of them failed at this area (they hallucinate most of the time). Now, there's even none to a few that are built for Filipino researches.
